Getting Back in the Groove
November 6th, 2007 | by Aldacron |Last week, one of my dogs died after having suffered for a couple of weeks from a debilitating virus. Her death had a bigger impact on me than I expected it would. Some people don’t understand the connection that can be made with pets, but I certainly have one with all of my dogs. I wasn’t much in the mood for anything at all for a couple of days, other than trying to help keep my wife in good spirits. After that, I felt that I needed a change of routine for a bit and spent most of the past week out of the house, including a weekend trip to the countryside.
I’m gradually getting back into the groove, so over the next few days I’ll be catching up on all of the goings on in D-land. Any news I’ve missed in the past week will get the usual rehashing here in due course

It’s very hard to lose someone that’s been a part of your life for so long, irrespective of species. We lost our dingo Sam a few years ago. She’d been with us since she was a pup, when we found her alone hiding under a piece of farm equipment. Sam must’ve been with us for around 14 or so years. The saddest thing for me was that I was away at uni when mum had to have her put down because she was suffering from, I believe, cancer.
I still miss Sam, and we’ve only got a few photos of her. But she had a pretty good run, and I won’t forget her.
Which is also why anyone dragging out the old “dingo ate my baby!” jokes gets a quick smack upside the head.
My condolences, and best wishes to you and your wife.
