Tango Conference 2008

August 8th, 2008 | by Aldacron |

Those of you depressed by the cancellation of this year’s D Conference should be happy to hear that the Tango Conference 2008 has been announced. It is scheduled September 26 - 28, in Torun, Poland. You can read more about it, including why it’s in Torun and how to register, on the conference homepage.

From the newsgroup announcement:

Conference program includes both talks and sessions such as a game development panel and a concurrency workshop. Although it is a Tango themed conference, it should be highly interesting for the D community at large. A couple of the program spots will be decided upon after the first registrations as that will tell us more about which topics interest you the most. The complete program will be announced at that point.

I’m not holding my breath, but there’s a chance I might actually get to go. Though it looks like getting there from Korea is going to be a long and involved process.

I didn’t see the bit about why it’s in Torun. It says there was a D class taught there, but I think that’s more a symptom of why it’s in Torun not a cause.

I’m guessing the reason it’s there is because that’s the university that the Team0xf people attend, and they’re organizing it, because they think D and Tango are grand.

    Just a guess though.

Organizing manpower and an available site would be the most important reasons to choose any place, and both were present in Torun.

As for the D class, that is just a big bonus :)

What Lars said. Also, Poland is relatively cheap, so you can buy more beer^H^H^H^H^H cookies for the same price. It’s also in/near (depending on sources) the geographical center of Europe.

Er… I wouldn’t promote the beer as a good reason to come, Tom, unless you want it to look like your hosting a bash… :(

    Now cookies… maybe… yeah, emphasize cookies! :)
