GDC Needs You
larsivi has put out a call for action. The future of GDC is looking bleak, making it likely that maintaining support for the compiler in Tango will become more and more difficult. As larsivi says:
If you want to avoid this situation, help with the mantainance and development of GDC. Arthur Loiret, Debian's GDC mantainer, has promised to commit patches, but you must write them!
So if it's in the realm of your abilities to do so, please give a helping hand to the GDC project.
DMD 1.038 and 2.022
DMD 1.038 adds partial IFTI to D1. DMD 2.022 now semantically checks pure and nothrow functions. Bugfixes for both.
The usual reminder for newcomers: DMD 2.x is an experimental, constantly changing version of the D compiler. The stable 1.x branch should be used for production code.
Walter Tweets
I signed up for Twitter a while back when some other D-folk did, but fell out of it after a short time. It seems several other D types have signed up now, including D's daddy. If you are a D user and don't yet Tweet, why not give it a whirl? To get you started on who to follow, here's a list of the D-folk who I know are using the service:
If you or someone you know in the D community are on Twitter, please put a link to the profile in the comments. I'll update this list when they come in (and will start following their tweets).
MiniD 2 Tentative RC1
Jarrett has announced a "tentative" release candidate of MiniD 2. He's been at work on it for quite a while and has implemented several features and changes over MiniD 1. He had quite a lot to say about it in the NG announcement, so rather than quote it all here I'll point you to the NG web interface so that you can read all about it.
