DConf 2013 on Kickstarter

For the past few weeks, my life has been consumed by preparations to open a hot dog grill & cocktail bar (finally opening this week). No coding in any language for me lately. But I have been sticking my head in the D forums now and again to see what’s going on. Now I’ve seen something that’s made me crawl out of my hole and make a post here.

A D Conference is tentatively scheduled for next spring. Whether or not it goes forward depends largely on a fundraising effort via Kickstarter. If you love D and want to see this conference go forward (whether you can attend or not), please drop by and donate as much as you can spare sometime before Wednesday Nov 21, 1:10pm EST. The goal is $29,999. Anything above that will be put toward a future conference fund.

I’ll have to start teaching a new semester of debate at the university next March and I don’t know yet if they’ll let me get away. That largely depends on when the conference date is fixed. But even if I can’t go, I’ll certainly be donating. I hope this turns out to be a successful project for all involved.

And for the record, the blog here isn’t dead, just hibernating. I’ll pick things back up again once the chaos of starting a new business dies down. I’m also eager to get back to my little game project that’s sitting there on github all neglected.
